Transitions play a powerful role in the yoga practice. They are the movements that link one pose to the next. When executed effectively, they cultivate strength, awareness, and balance. When rushed, it can be difficult to find good alignment, and even more challenging to stay present.
In this workshop, we’ll slow things down and break apart some common transitions with the intention of creating greater ease, strength, and fluidity in your practice. Rather than simply “getting” from one pose to the next, we’ll explore how transitions themselves can become an important part of the practice.
Together, we’ll explore transitions including:
- Down Dog → Warrior I (stepping forward to the top of the mat)
- Plank → Chaturanga → Up Dog
- Jump to seated
- Side Angle → Half Moon
- Standing balance → Warrior III
